Marin Athletic Club 1958-1976 and 2010- onward

"Fifteen Dipsea Team Championships During the 'Open Era' "

The Marin Athletic Club was formed by Jim Imperiale in 1958 for Marin runners to compete in the Dipsea Race. Jim won the 1959 Dipsea.
Over the next two decades Marin A.C. teams and individual runners became a significant part of Dipsea history.
From 1958 through the late 1970s the Marin A.C. dominated the Dipsea results.

Marin A.C. Dipsea BBQ location map

HERE is a link to the ariel photo above of Stinson Beach State Park and the location of the finish of the Dipsea. Marin A.C. will have a BBQ for members and guests inside the red circle as I understand our plans

Look at the photo in the LINK (because it is larger and can be zoomed) and the more centered parking lot in the photo. Near the left side of the lot is a parked red car. If that car drove forward about two car lengths it would occupy the place where our BBQ will be in the area of sparse grass. Look for a red canopy set up in that area and all the nice, youthful, fit Marin A. C. members. Have a great run and come enjoy our Barbeque. There is a cost for the BBQ of $15 I think.

Note: you can drag the photo in the LINK or zoom in on what you want to get closer to. In fact, you can drag the photo all the way to Mill Valley or visa versa to see much of the Dipsea course.

Lots of neat things happening around this year's 100th running of the Dipsea Race. Check out this exhibit at the Marin History Museum in San Rafael from May 25 through July 13. Check link for days and times.
Note: I have not seen this yet but will surely do so asap.
